Hey there, my friend! Thank you for spending a few minutes of your day with me. For that, I am deeply grateful. Today, I get to share a piece of news that still feels a bit unreal: Sinful Oath, Book One in the On The Wings Of Angels series, is a 2025 Finalist in the American Writing Awards subcategory of Religion – Christian Inspirational.  Continue Reading …

Hey there, my friend. Some seasons of life feel a lot like walking through fog. You know the road exists—you’re standing on it—but you can’t see very far ahead. The next step may be clear; the one after that is a blur. You’re moving forward, but you’re not entirely sure where you’re going or how it will work out. Continue reading …

If you were a woman in 1618 London and felt a familiar cramp in your belly, you didn’t call an ambulance, and you certainly didn’t Google symptoms. Your husband or the women at your lying‑in would send a boy running for the midwives. Many parishes had at least one, often two women licensed for this work, and inside London’s walls there were over a hundred parishes—several more lining them. A midwife could live next door… or across a maze of slippery lanes. Continue reading…

Reviewing "Ladies of Intrigue" -- Michelle Griep & Christian Historical Mystery

One of the things I promised myself when I started writing Christian historical mysteries was that I’d keep learning from the authors who came before me—and beside me. So every now and then, I pick up a book not just as a reader, but as a writer in training, asking, “How did she do that? What worked for me? What didn’t? What does this teach me about what I want my own stories to be?” . Continue reading…

“The Secret of Pembrooke Park”: Mystery, Faith, and a Heroine Ready to Leap

Sometimes a book arrives in just the right season. I picked up Julie Klassen’s “The Secret of Pembrooke Park” because I wanted a good historical mystery with a strong romantic thread—but I also wanted to see how another author handles faith on the page. What I found was one of those rare stories that made me both race through the chapters and, at the same time, not want the book to end.

This isn’t a full‑on “whodunit” in the classic sense, where the whole experience is about catching the killer before the detective does. Instead, it’s a “multilayered puzzle and suspense story”, wrapped in romance and filled with genuine spiritual reflection. And for me, it worked beautifully. Continue Reading…

“Ring of Secrets”: Faith-Forward Spies, Puzzles, and a Story That Flows

Every so often, a book comes along that feels like it’s written in the exact corner of the world you love: time period, tone, questions, and all. Roseanna M. White’s “Ring of Secrets” did that for me.

I picked it up expecting a historical spy story with Christian elements. What I found was a “faith-forward puzzle and suspense novel” where the central question is less “who did it?” and more “who can be trusted—and what will it cost them?” From the first chapters, I felt as if I’d stepped into a world of whispered conversations, coded notes, and hidden loyalties in 1779 New York, and I didn’t want to leave.
